Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits.

Popeye Food chain at Singapore International Changi Airport, Terminal One/ Three.

One piece chicken set to satisfy your taste buds.

Well, Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits might not be a favourite among locals mainly because it's fresh from the oven! Popeye's originated from America, owned since 1993 by Sandy Springs, Georgia-based AFC Enterprises, which was originally America's Favorite Chicken Company. The chain was initially named after detective Jimmy ‘Popeye’ Doyle in the movie The French Connection, and NOT Popeye the Sailor man. However in Singapore, we like to do it our style. Located at Changi Airport, Terminal One/ Three, one bus 858, will directly serve you to your kingdom of crispy fried chicken. It might be another fast food chain but to hungry customers, its 'heaven on earth' .

Okay, enough of the chit-chatting, let's get back to the present and into the chicken. Yes, they do serve Sandwich and Seafood Combos, but the must-tries are the Chicken Combos. They come in other spicy or mild version, along with signature sides of Cajun Fries, Mash Potatoes, Cole Slaw or Red Beans & Rice. The chicken; the small cracks of the skin can be seen as it is as crunchy as it gets. Unlike some other places with supremely oily or flaky chicken skin, Popeye's had crisp, firm and crunchy exterior, with a tad of golden brown, that can give a ‘cracking’ sound on first bite. One good whiff and boy, do the smell of crunchy chiken hits you. Whether spicy or mild, the smell still stays for as long as it is not in your belly. The best part comes after every bite, the taste of pure chicken meat never fails to surprise you with the exact temperature and heat to cooking a perfect fried chicken.

You see, Popeye's is not an everyday typical fast food chain, it is chicken, Californian style. No, it's obviously not ordinary fired chicken, its fried with Cajun. Very tempting indeed. A taste you would beg for more. Too late, you've finished the whole meal in less than three minutes, told you the chicken's good. At the number of chicken they sell per month, I think people from all over the world comes to Singapore just for the Cajun - fried chicken. Yes, I would return for more Popeye's beacause its worth every cent I paid for it.

  1. Wow Fouzy,

that was very 'descrip-licious', wasn't it? from the way you describe it, how could a mere piece satisfy the taste buds (refer to caption)?!! A persuasive piece that makes the food stand out from other fast food chains=)
